James W. Allen

James W. Allen (“Jim”) is a Member of Donsbach & King, LLC. His practice focuses on employment law and litigation.

Jim is a 1985 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. He attended Georgia on a Bryan T. Castellow Scholarship and was an active participant in Moot Court competitions, coaching, and participating in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He was inducted into the Order of the Barristers during his third year of law school.

After graduation, Jim joined the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps, serving in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Washington State. He served as a legal assistance attorney, working on wills, tenant disputes, debt issues, and other matters on behalf of military members. In addition, he served as a defense attorney in courts-martial. In his last two years of Navy work, he was assigned as the legal officer of the Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.

After leaving the Navy, Jim worked for Fisher & Phillips, a national employment firm based in Atlanta. He then moved back to Washington State, where he worked for the Seattle office of Miller, Nash, Wiener, Hager & Carlsen. He left Miller Nash in 1996 to practice on his own as an employment attorney.

In 2003, Jim and his family returned to Georgia, settling in Augusta.
